Bought 2 (orange and yellow), both large, for our 2 GoldenΒs who are relatively the same size (we measured both of them and ordered sizes per product description). The elastic Velcro chest strap was more than 2 inches shorter on each side on the orange one and did not fit appropriately. The yellow fit perfectly. We didnΒt realize the size discrepancy until we went to use them and the orange one didnΒt fit properly – Velcro strap was too tight and wouldnΒt hold. The actual flotation portion and clip straps were identical on both (photo shows them slightly offset).
Otherwise they worked great and seem like good quality. The dogs didnΒt mind them at all, they were able to swim much longer without exhaustion, and there was no choking on water. Wish we had gotten them much sooner. Will be returning the orange one and ordering another yellow with hopefully the correct size Velcro strap.

I have a 55 lb boxer with a 30in chest. Summer of 2023 I got a large orange and it fits her great. Works well for swimming in an above ground dog pool. Not the highest quality vest but economical (you can see in a few pics where the orange has started to break after about 5-6 times of wearing for about an hr each. I wanted to get another vest this summer (2024) large but in pink. The elastic Velcro chest strap is 1-2 inches longer on each side on the pink one and was too big on my dog. The vest/flotation part was the same size in the pink and orange.
I then tried ordering the pink in a medium and it was significantly smaller. It was more of a small/medium. The straps didnΒt reach to buckle them around my 30 in chest dog. The flotation part was also much smaller. Very frustrating.

I never imagined I’d have a dog that can’t swim… But I do. My dog (Bernie) doesn’t know how to dog paddle. As the water gets deeper he tries to stand on his hind legs like a person would do. In water over his head, he paddles his front legs but not his hind legs and sinks like a rock. I’m convinced he would drown without intervention Crazy.
This life vest has changed his life, and ours. Great for peace of mind and Bernie’s able to play in the water. I bought the large one three years ago. He’s a lean 60lb. It’s easy to put on and take off and he has never complained that it’s uncomfortable. The handles work great for throwing him in the water and pulling him out (this may have resulted in a ripped seam on his back). If in the market for a k9 life vest, this is a good one!–I totally recommend it.

I ordered a size Large, my girl Tesla is a Labradoodle and Pitbull mix she is 5 years old and weights 65 pounds. Fits PERFECT and I have a smaller girl a Dutch Shepherd ( Sierra is her name) and she weights about 48 pound s, the same vest fits Sierra great also.
Note: even if Tesla was like 10 pound bigger this vest would fit her all right.
Do Tesla suffers from hip displacement and lately stop walking and running much do her muscles were debilitating a lot, she got also down like sad or depressed. then I decided to buy a little pool 30 inches deep to get Tesla to swim while I hold her so she swims in the same stop not really going forward so I also purchased this vest cause she is scared of deep watersΒ 3 days later I noticed her active and in good mood like a puppy! We love this vest that provides her confidence in the water, she is not scare anymore. The only downside is that today 3rd day) the fabric by one of the handles start ripping off, gonna contact the seller and request an exchange cause we want to keep this vest model IT WORKS, MY GIRL FLOATS AND SHE IS ABLE TO EXERCISE PLUS SHE LOOKS SO PRETTY ON IT! We absolutely recommend it and is only $19 ????????????????????????????????

My dog will refuse to walk in anything that is too bulky or just plain uncomfortable but she has no problem spending hours in this life jacket. She is not the best swimmer so the pad that goes under her chin is a great touch and i know she appreciates. The handle on the top is my favorite thing about this jacket and has saved her from getting left behind after falling off our tubes or paddle boards several times. Because there are several different clips and support areas she is able to be picked up out of the water by that handle alone without being hurt or slipping out. This vest is so affordable and can save your dogs life so buy it already!

My not-fond-of-water dog was wearing the life jacket on two different canoe trips where the canoe got off course in fast-water bends, swept into strainers and tipped over. Not only did it keep her afloat and make her very easy to spot, but that handle/strap on the top made it possible for others nearby to grab her and bring her alongside their boats, plus help her haul out onto the steep bank. I kept thinking of that as I saw the footage of North Carolina in the hurricane floods in 2024 and people waking their dogs on rocky beaches on the West Coast. So worth having them in a life jacket!

My little terrier/chihuahua mix has taken a liking to cooling off in the water so I was looking for a life jacket for her that would give her a confidence boost with swimming. I take my dog paddle boarding with me and a couple of times she jumped right into the water. This life jacket kept her balanced as she swam so her head was comfortably above water. At first she did not like getting the jacket put on but quickly learned to associate that with going for a paddle board ride; by the end of our camping trip she started getting excited to see her life jacket get taken out because it meant adventure time!
I also found the sizing chart to be accurate.

I did not measure my dog before ordering but I bought the size based off her harness size (S) 13lb dachshund. The belly strap fits her perfectly since she is deep chested but the front strap is very loose so when she walks around with it her paws can get through the front strap. However I didnΒt drop a star because of that I dropped a star because of two other reasons. First of all the product stated it had a ring to clip a leash on to and when I received it there was no such ring anywhere on the vest. Ultimately I ended up clipping her leash onto the handle but it barely fit, I wouldΒve liked to have that ring. And secondly sheΒs very unbalanced in the water. She will rock and lean side to side when swimming rather than being balanced. She didnΒt seem to mind that part too much tho, she spent the day trying to out swim the ducks in the water. I took the vest off while she was close to me to compare how she swam without the vest and I definitely will be keeping a vest on her around water! Her short dachshund legs donΒt help her out much in water and her deep chest is like an anchor. The vest keeps her front end at a safe level and I feel much more comfortable letting her swim knowing she has that support. The grab handle is a great feature that I used to help her onto my paddle board. The bright pink is also a nice touch as people can see her from a distance and the boaters had no problem spotting her in the water.

I was really excited to get this life vest for my dog, but unfortunately, the sizing was way off. It was much too small even though I ordered the size according to the measurements provided. The vest was also a bit uncomfortable for my dog to wear for long periods. While the quality seems good, I would definitely recommend checking the sizing chart carefully before purchasing.

We have a 20lb, 8month old doodle we take into Puget Sound with us on the paddle board. We wanted him in a life vest so he would be easy to spot, have extra help incase he got caught up in a current or was out with the kids and they needed to haul him back onto the board. 12 and 9 year old have no problem getting him out of the water with the handles. He didn’t like it at first but now he sees it and gets excited because he knows were headed out to the water and stands very patently while we get him buckled in. He jumped off once and got caught up in a little eddy, we could have gone in after him but because he was in the life vest we were able to wait for him to get pushed out and then go and get him. We’re big fans. So is he just because of the freedom it affords him to not be left behind.

I have a miniature dachshund who is not very fond of water. I bought him this vest to desensitize him to water and to have peace of mind in case he fell in the pool or the lake where we visit family (I figured even if he panicked at least he would float and not drown).
1. Straps/size – I like the adjustability of the straps. He was quite small when I first got this and I was able to adjust it so he fit snuggly. I was also able to ensure I expanded it as he got slightly bigger.
3. Durability – this was pretty durable considering my puppy is still in the teething phase! he chewed on the straps quite a few times before I caught him but honestly they look pretty good still.
4. Performance – this performed pretty well (9.5/10). My only complaint is that sometimes if he was a little heavier that day (too many treats) I did notice he wasnΒt staying as above the water as other times. However, I wouldnΒt have gone a size up, due to his actual dimensions. If you have a particularly fat pupper whoΒs pretty small, this may not work for you for that reason.
Overall I would definitely recommend! Very cute and helped him get used to the water. He still isnΒt a water doxie but one step at a time! I posted more picture in his vest on his instagram @starktheweiner π

I bought this for my 13 1/2 year old golden retriever, who weighs about 90lbs. It fits him very well. Although heΒs always been a great swimmer he is now having trouble with his hind legs and breathing. He still loves the water and to swim but I feared at his age he would get too winded trying to doggie paddle so I bought this. He doesnΒt mind wearing it at all and it provides a good amount of floatation that if he chooses not to paddle it will keep him from sinking in the water. The neck floatation part made to keep the head from going under isnΒt that supportive and migrates from under the chin so when we notice that happening we just grab the straps on top and readjust. Overall IΒm very pleased with this life jacket

This dog life jacket is an absolute gem! The quality is outstanding, making it a durable and reliable choice for keeping your furry friend safe in the water. It’s evident that a lot of thought went into the design, as it’s both comfortable for the dog and practical for the owner.
The handles are sturdy and well-placed, making it easy to lift your pup out of the water when needed. I was impressed by how well it supports my dog’s floatability Β it keeps him buoyant without restricting his movement.
What really stands out is the value for money. While it’s not the cheapest option out there, the quality and features make it worth every penny. It’s perfect for both short-term use and regular water adventures.
The jacket is also incredibly easy to put on and take off, which is a huge plus when dealing with an excited pup ready for a swim. The adjustable straps ensure a snug fit for dogs of various sizes.

We have two lovely Lhaso Apsos and recently decided to install a pool. Since our pups have never swum before, we were unsure of what to expect. We decided to invest in the Outward Hound Granby Splash Dog Life Jacket for them, and we were thrilled with the results. The fit is simply perfect, and the added floating pad under the jaw ensures that their noses stay comfortably above the water.
I cannot recommend the Outward Hound Granby Splash Dog Life Jacket, enough. It’s a fantastic investment for any dog owner who wants to ensure their pets’ safety and comfort during water activities.

“Dawson” model swim jacket is my fav and my 2 dogs. My small dogs hates wearing anything and she always happily puts this on, and she’s not even much of water lover but this is comfortable based on my observation of it’s construction and my little ones behavior.
CON = getting the right fit.
I had to size down for both my dog’s measurements vs the size chart so maybe others need to also.
My smaller dog is a solid 17″ rib cage girth (all her clothes and harnesses are for 17″) and I re-measured her when I ordered this but she fits in XS for this product with the straps almost as short as they go. Odd as XS says the biggest girth is 15″ yet the S was still too loose by a couple inches with all straps as short as possible.
Likewise my other dog actually fits a M, yet size chart indicated she’d be a L but it was far too big.
PROS = *This life vest has excellent boyancy but is not bulky.
*It is easy to adjust the straps and then just take off and on by the 3 clips.
*It is very secure under the belly and for the chin/chest when it is the right fit for your dogs body type.
And the front under chin material is not obnoxiously bulky like other models.
*No Velcro! which my dogs hate the sound of and velcro sucks with sand and hair obviously.
*The quick grab handle runs vertical with the spine which doesn’t create much water resistance as others that have a strap across body left to right.

I have two english bulldogs that know to stay in the shallows but if the pool cleaning broom comes out, all bets are off. My small bulldog will go crazy and submerge herself trying to get to the pool broom and my big boy gets pretty excited too. I bought these life jackets for both of them and they worked out really well. My little bulldog ended up floating and dog paddling when she went for the broom.
My large bulldog has a massive head so even with the floatation portion under his chest, it is still a little difficult for him to keep his face out of the water for long when all 4 paws are off the bottom of the pool, but having him in a reasonably decent life jacket eases my mind when the dogs are aroud the pool. Update: We had a pool party on Labor Day and my large bulldog decided to jump in and grab the football being tossed around in the pool. The vest did keep his head up as he dog paddled to grab the ball but we kept on eye on him the entire time just in case.

Great best for our Boston Terrier (19 lbs). We used it while kayaking on a lake and he did just fine with it. It took a bit for him to move freely in it. I think he stayed frozen for 30 minutes after we put it on the first time, but then was fine in it. It’s also great that it has a handle and we scooped him out of the water when he jumped.

Love it! The handle is so convenient for getting my Βland dogΒ in the water. Bought this because my Aussie needs to move around more and being in the water is easier for his joints. It definitely keeps him afloat (65 +/- lbs) and he doesnΒt seem to mind wearing it, I just wish it had a little more neck/chin support. The floaty fabric thatΒs currently there isnΒt very supportive and almost seems to get in the way, I feel like if youΒre offering chin support then really commit to it. Overall I definitely recommend and will continue to use it for his aquatic at home therapy!

The adjustable straps make it easy to get the perfect fit, and the handle on the top is a great feature for helping him out of the water when needed. Plus, it dries quickly and is easy to clean! Our Chihuahua Enzo is approx 7lbs, slim little guy, long in body. HeΒs a rescue, not AKC.
So I usually get him a Small, but in this Life Jacket, XS seemed the best=works perfect. If he was any bigger we would have to upsize.
Enzo is the more common grouchy Chih, so the minute we put any clothing on him he sort of just freezes and also gets that forlorn look on his face.
I am VERY pleased with the quality; feels sturdy, the straps have clips and also a little Velcro band which around each strap. I like the neck support because if we were ever displaced and Β separated somehow Β I feel like heΒd have a chance and that the neck float would help keep his head above water if he was fatigued or stressed.
Ofcourse Um imaging a terrible scenario but living in FL and unpredictable storms, one canΒt be too prepared. I looked at so many different ones before options to go with this.

For the most part this vest fits exactly as it should. I was worried I got the wrong size fory beagle as she is a small but a meaty small.
I’ve noticed a lot of reviews on here talking about it being a perfect fit for their (add Xtra small dog here), and the vest is actually too big- which causes it to be dangerous for the dog.
This vest is not meant to go the complete length of the dog, it should rest before the tail bone, not right at it. For their safety.
With that being said, because my dog has an extra meaty neck, her neck tuff sticks out a little- which is perfectly fine. As it is only noticeable when she’s sitting and scrunched up.
The part I have an issue with is the flap that holds the dogs head up is sewn a little diagonally so it does not rest as it should.
Other than that, this vest is wonderful for my beagle. She has the chest width around 20 inches.
VVBulldog –
I have an Olde English Bulldogge who sinks like a rock. She does good to tread water at all. Because of this the water is not her friend which is a problem since she goes fishing with me on the boat and I take her to the beach. She has a deep chest and a narrow waist and I stuck to the size chart which said the size she needed could support up to a 70lb dog. That made me nervous because she is around 65-70 lbs. I took the chance and we hit the lake today. Like others said the straps have plenty of room to adjust and I was able to get a good snug fit without a problem. Then before getting in the water I used the lift straps to make sure all would hold. The jacket did great and feels very sturdy and well made letting me lift her with ease. Next we got in the water and to my amazement she started swimming all around the boat. It completely supports her and allows her to float with no effort on hr part. For the price this is an outstanding product that gives me piece of mind that she is safe on the water plus I can now let her cool off in deeper water and lift her back into the boat without hurting her or me.
Dont hesitate. This product is well worth the money and more.
Update(10-17-14)- Today I went fishing and while on my bass boat my trolling motor took a break. While working on getting it fixed my bulldog went to the back of the boat and got a drink from the lake. While Im sitting with bits and pieces of trolling motor on the front deck I heard a big splash. I look up to see my dog was gone. She is not a ballerina and slipped in to the lake with her clumsy self. Luckily she had on her vest and very calmly bobbed in the water for a second and then began to swim around. I let her take a couple laps around the boat while I got the trolling motor bits safe and then lifted her back on board by the vest straps.
If I did not have this vest today I bet I would have had a big mess by needing to move quickly to save my rock of a dog. Also I thought that if she was to get to far from the boat and the fact my trolling motor was down I would have had to either use the main motor to snag her, which would not be very safe, or get wet myself to get her. I am very glad I bought this vest and today it certainly paid for itself.
She has used it many times now on the lake and pool. It still looks new and is holding up extremely well. She has yet to protest wearing it and really seems to be confident around the water now.

This worked! Adjustable fit worked for the dog for when she fell in and for when she needed assistance to swim. She did not mind wearing it at all. Put it on her to go kayaking.

I originally got a large for my old and arthritic 50# shepherd/heeler mix in 2015. I started to get worried that she would jump or fall off the float tube or follow me when I was paddling around the lake and wouldn’t be able to make it back to shore, so I bought her one of these. It gave me some peace of mind and I started taking her with me more instead of leaving her at camp. I tried it on my new shepherd mix when I first adopted him in October 2018 and it just fit (he was about 70#). After a winter of fetch and long walks he had put on about 10# of muscle and the large didn’t fit (it’s been a while but I think his girth was 32″). According to the size chart the large should fit dogs up to 85# with a 32″ girth, but there was no way those buckles were snapping together. I ordered an XL for him and it fits great. He loves to go kayaking with me and I feel much more secure knowing he has it on. I still have the large size and it’s still in great shape. I plan on using it for my 60# lab mix when it gets warm enough. I’ll update this review if I discover an issue when we start going on the water again. I really like these life jackets and have not directly experienced any issues with quality or performance but am only giving 4 stars because:
1) I don’t think there’s any chance that the front flap will hold the dogs head out of the water if needed. It might work for small dogs, but for large dogs it just doesn’t look reasonably possible. This is unfortunate as it’s one of the advertised qualities that initially attracted me to this product.
2) I don’t think the grab handles would hold up very well with use as they are just sewn to the top of the jacket and are not part of the straps that go under the dogs chest. Some reviewers have noted this issue, but I think the packaging says they should only be used in an emergency. So maybe not the best option if you have a larger dog that you’ll need to lift into boat or onto dock repeatedly. Again, probably fine for small dogs as the product quality seems decent. I just think it could’ve been designed better.
3) Sizing issue as noted above.

My dachshund loved being able to swim with us! He’s usually not much for water, but surprisingly he really liked swimming with this vest on. It fit pretty well, could be a little better since there was room for the front piece to flop around, and isn’t easy to center on my dog always with the front piece the way it is. It’s also not the best for males dogs, at least not for small ones, he did accidentally pee inside the bottom of the vest since the bottom portion is longer than expected. The length of the bottom of the vest is probably needed to keep him upright in the water, but that was an issue. He was able to walk around comfortably, and it kept him above the water pretty well. He did have one time where he almost turned over but this is probably because of the breed, dachshunds have shorter legs. We kept by his side either way because he’s new to swimming. Otherwise, we really enjoyed getting this, would recommend!!
